It’s official: “Ayiti: Histoires de chefs” by Carla Beauvais is coming out

I am thrilled to announce that I am part of an exciting project that holds a special place in my heart—a vibrant and compelling cookbook by the multi-talented Carla Beauvais, titled “Ayiti: Histoires de chefs.” This book is not merely a collection of recipes; it is a heartfelt tribute to the rich culinary traditions of Haiti, an exploration of its culture, and a celebration of the incredible chefs who bring these flavors to life. I am honored to be featured in this wonderful collaborative piece.

“Ayiti: Histoires de chefs” will be available in libraries throughout Québec, Canada, starting January 22nd, 2025! Through reflections, personal stories, and portraits of thirteen passionate Haitian chefs, Carla invites readers to immerse themselves in the unique culinary heritage of our homeland. The book beautifully showcases the splendor of Haiti, allowing us to savor its beauty.

Each story within this cookbook shines a light on the individual journeys of these culinary artists, capturing the irresistible aromas and exquisite ingredients that define Haitian cuisine. From renowned professionals to self-taught chefs, each contributor offers a glimpse into their heritage, revealing how their personal experiences shape their cooking. It’s a journey that evokes not just taste, but also emotion—a connection to family, tradition, and the heart of Haiti.

A heartfelt thank you to Carla! My chapter in the book (Chapter 5) presents my journey and my recipes, and I am so proud to be a part of this collective adventure that celebrates the richness of Haitian gastronomy, highlighting our stories, flavors, heritage, and culture.

Uniting thirteen Haitian chefs to share a common vision and love for our homeland is no small feat. This project represents a significant milestone for Haitian cuisine, bringing together flavors and voices that deserve to be celebrated, including:

Set to be released on January 22, 2025, by Les Éditions de l'Homme, “Ayiti: Histoires de chefs” promises to be a treasure trove of flavors, stories, and cultural insights. With 192 pages filled with vibrant imagery and heartfelt narratives, this cookbook is designed to inspire both seasoned cooks and those new to Haitian cuisine. The first 100 people to pre-order will receive a signed copy!
